Roberta Williams had promised to send her former husband off with 'a big bang', but yesterday's funeral was an unexpectedly sombre affair for the surviving friends and family who attended.
There were, of course, elements of the theatrics for which Williams, 39, had become well known during his reign over Melbourne's underworld.
His family chose a polished bronze and gold coffin known as 'the Promethean' as the final resting place for the gangland killer, who was bashed to death in Barwon Prison last week. The coffin, understood to have cost $30,000, is believed to be the same as that used to bury entertainer Michael Jackson."
