Pajaro River levee shooting victim fought back, police say - San Jose Mercury News: "teenage gunman robbed one laborer at gunpoint then shot the man's friend with a .38 special revolver during a second robbery attempt on the Pajaro River levee Monday afternoon, police reported.
New details about the robbery-shooting emerged Tuesday.
The gunman, a 17-year-old suspected gang member, and two other gang members robbed one laborer on the levee just before 3 p.m. He handed over his wallet when the teen pointed a gun at him, according to Watsonville police Sgt. Saul Gonzalez.
Then the trio went down the side of the levee toward a shack near the river's edge. The laborer watched them head toward the wooden building and feared his friend, who lives in the structure, would be ripped off as well so he followed the robbers into the home, Gonzalez said."
