Gun-toting gang members kept the Chico Police Department hopping last week.

Flashbacks of Abuse: How a Machine Gun Toting Sociopath Freed Me From the Chains of My ChildhoodGun-toting gang members kept the Chico Police Department hopping last week.

At about 2 a.m. on Friday (Feb. 18) officers arrested a man who minutes earlier had been shouting a gang slogan while cocking a shotgun in the middle of street at West Fifth and Chestnut streets. Codey Lee Palmer, 21, was arrested after ditching the gun and attempting to run away from the officers.

According to a CPD press release, the gun had been illegally shortened and its serial number altered. Palmer, a felony parolee, faces many charges including an enhancement possession charge by a criminal street gang member.

In the afternoon that same day, during a routine traffic stop, Jesús Hernández Martínez, 19, a known gang member, was arrested for possession of a loaded .45 caliber handgun. He is charged with numerous violations, including carrying a concealed firearm in a vehicle.

The day before, Marco Antonio Peña, a 28-year-old gang member from the Bay Area, was sentenced to nearly 10 years in prison. Peña was arrested back in August in Chico for being a felon in possession of a loaded .38 caliber firearm."

They rolled by the name 'Beat-Down Posse,' or 'BDP,' and the rogue's gallery of thieves, thugs and swindlers surrounding bail bondsman Joseph Duane Gustafson Jr. was behind a North Minneapolis crime spree as extensive as it was lengthy, police say.

Investigators say the men, under the guise of pursuing bail jumpers, would often raid the homes of people they thought were drug dealers. But former BDP members told police the raids were undertaken to steal drugs, money and even jewelry.

On Thursday, Hennepin County prosecutors said they hoped they had brought the crimes to a halt. In a 14-count criminal complaint, prosecutors charged Gustafson and an alleged top lieutenant, Troy Michael Neuberger, with crimes ranging from drug sales and assault to mortgage fraud.

But the key charge — and the one that could put the men in prison the longest if convicted — is racketeering. The complaint alleges the Beat-Down Posse was a criminal enterprise, and as such, the members could face 20 years in prison and $1 million fines if found guilty."

Court officials confirmed the bail review hearing had taken place Tuesday morning after he was taken before a District Court commissioner. A recording of the hearing was not available Wednesday.

Law enforcement authorities describe the 42-year-old as a founder of the gang, which was started for white inmates in the late 1990s and has grown rapidly across the country."

Zetas Killer Claims ICE Agent's Murder a Mistake

Zetas Killer Claims ICE Agent's Murder a Mistake: "Six men were arrested in Mexico on February 23 in connection with last week’s murder of U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent Jaime Zapata. One of the men, Zetas cartel member Julian Zapata Espinoza, allegedly confessed to the killing, but claimed the attack was a case of mistaken identity. The arrest came as Mexican President Felipe Calderon announced a visit to Washington to meet with President Obama next week.

Zapata and fellow agent Victor Avila were attacked by 10 to 15 gunmen on February 15 while driving near San Luis Potosí. Zapata was shot to death, and Avila was wounded.

According to the Daily Reporter for February 24, Espinoza, known also as “El Piolin,” or Tweety Bird, told soldiers that he misidentified Zapata's and Avila's vehicle. Army spokesman Colonel Ricardo Trevilla explained: '[The shooting] occurred because of the characteristics of the vehicle, given that [the suspects] thought it was being used by members of a rival criminal group.”"

Brutal details told of 2010 Camden gang killings - Philly.com: "At 14, a hardened Shatara 'Feisty' Carter boasted about her part in the torture and killing of two people in her Camden home a year ago.

Shortly after the slayings, the teenager offered a long confession so disturbingly detailed that veteran law enforcement officials were shocked by the unbridled brutality used against the Burlington County couple.

Although tearful at times, Carter eventually grew animated as she re-created the frenzy among 10 members of the Bloods gang.

She even pointed out blood on her shoes that her aunt could not clean in the wash. An investigator with the Camden County Prosecutor's Office offered to take the bloody sneakers and get her a new pair."

Gangster Clay Roueche files suit against APD/B.C. gov't: "United Nations gang founder Clay Roueche filed a suit against the B.C. government and two police agencies Friday for violating his Charter rights by helping U.S. law enforcement capture him.

Roueche said Canadian policing agencies never should have turned over evidence they had against him in B.C. - including wiretaps - to U.S. prosecutors working on his drug smuggling case.

The lawsuit was filed just three days after Roueche's tearful apology in a Seattle courtroom for his role in a massive international drug ring that transported thousands of pounds of marijuana and hundreds of kilos of cocaine.

Roueche told U.S. District Court Judge Robert Lasnik he was taking responsibility for the suffering he had caused working in the drug trade for years."

Eyewitnesses said young men clashed violently on the pedestrianised area around Nelson's Column and on nearby roads.
Dozens of police raced to the square and arrested 19 people, the youngest of whom was 14. The three injured teenagers - one 18-year-old and two aged 19 - were taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
The fighting is believed to have involved rival gangs of Albanian Kosovans from several parts of the capital. The fighting took place on the third anniversary of Kosovo's declaration of independence from Serbia.
A Met spokesman said the fighting broke out at around 4pm and the stabbings took place over the next 90 minutes.
Investigators have seized footage from several CCTV and traffic cameras that cover the area around the square. Dangerous Chase Between Gang Members Leads To Crash, Rollover

Posted On 01:49 0 comments

Dangerous Chase Between Gang Members Leads To Crash, Rollover « CBS Chicago: "Police are still looking for the driver of one of the two vehicles that took part in a dangerous, high speed “cat-and-mouse” type chase in the Lawndale neighborhood Sunday morning that ended in one of the autos rolling over after hitting a utility pole, the other striking a building and two parked cars, and four teens hospitalized.
The incident happened about 4 a.m. around Central Park Avenue and Grenshaw Street on the West Side, according to police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli.
“Apparently some occupants of a 1999 Cadillac 4-door” either threw gang signs or otherwise indicated their gang affiliation to the occupant of a Jeep, Mirabelli said. This led to the two vehicles becoming involved “in a dangerous cat-and-mouse scenario,” chasing each other through the streets of the Lawndale neighborhood, he said.
At one point the Jeep lost control on the 3500 block of West Grenshaw Street and went off the road, striking a traffic signal, then continuing through a vacant lot and hitting a utility pole before rolling over."

Latin Kings ,Gangster Disciples,Black P Stone,: Leaders of three gangs team to sell heroin

Posted On 10:47 0 comments

Strange bedfellows: Leaders of three gangs team to sell heroin - Chicago Sun-Times: "Sandoval, 30, of Sauk Village, is a high-ranking Latin Kings member; Lacy, 32, also of Sauk Village, is a Gangster Disciples boss, and Ridgner, 31, of Dyer, Ind., is a top Black P Stone, officials said.

Their alleged pact was a departure from the way fiercely independent Chicago area gangs have operated in the past, officials said.

“Our gang teams in the suburbs have been seeing a break from the traditional gang hierarchy and loyalties,” said Steve Patterson, a spokesman for Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart.

“As gangs migrate to the suburbs, they don’t have as many members as they might have in the city, so we’re seeing more non-traditional alliances. At the upper levels, they don’t care about affiliation, they care about money,” Patterson said.

Ridgner controlled the Harvey operation and Lacy was his drug supplier, officials said."

Luxury cars, firearms, drugs seized in bust - National - NZ Herald News: "police seize luxury cars, motorcycles, firearms and drugs across five districts.

More than 100 North Island police officers executed 40-plus search warrants and arrested 30 people today. More arrests are expected.

'The actions of police will have a significant impact on the supply of methamphetamine,' Ms Collins said

'Not only will this mean less crime and fewer victims, but it will slow the pipeline of money that is the lifeblood of organised crime.

'The number of gangs involved shows they are putting aside their differences and working together in what is a highly lucrative, but evil, drugs franchise,' Ms Collins said.

The operation exposed what police believe to be an organised and large scale methamphetamine network and an apparent increased presence of the Australian Rebels gang in New Zealand."

“critical witness” in the case against a man charged with killing a Grant Park bartender had to have his leg amputated Tuesday

Posted On 10:42 0 comments

The “critical witness” in the case against a man charged with killing a Grant Park bartender had to have his leg amputated Tuesday, further threatening the prosecution of the accused gang member, Fulton County’s district attorney said.

The witness, identified in court this week as Eddie Pugh, was shot over the weekend while working on a car.

The shooting concerns law enforcement officials because this the third time in the past four months that witnesses in cases against violent gang members have been attacked.

The witness was “very critical in our being able to connect the case" to defendant Jonathan Redding, a suspected member of the street gang 30 Deep, District Attorney Paul Howard said Wednesday.

Atlanta police are investigating whether the shooting of the witness was connected to the murder case. “But it doesn’t take a fool to see this is quite a coincidence,” Howard said, adding that the man was not a gang member and was, in fact, the victim in another alleged attack by Redding.

The trial in the Jan. 7, 2009, shooting death of bartender John Henderson was scheduled to start Monday and was postponed until at least next month. Now that trial date is uncertain. “That’s really bad news for us,” Howard said.

The prosecutor pointed out that a witness in the recent murder trial of 30 Deep leader George “Keon” Redding was beaten in jail while waiting to testify. Keon Redding, who is Jonathan’s cousin, was convicted last week of killing two men and wounding two others.

One of the men wounded had witnessed one of the killings and was shot four times by Keon Redding. That witness survived. When he refused to testify, prosecutors arrested him and put him in jail. He later testified.

Henderson’s killing by a robbing crew at the now defunct Standard Food & Spirits rallied Atlanta residents and forced violent street crime to be one of the major issues in the mayoral race that year.:Text may be subject to copyright. This blog does not claim copyright to any such text. Florida Gang Member Jailed for Recruiting Via Rap Video - The Boombox: "24-year-old gang recruiter in Florida was sentenced to a year in prison for posting an online rap video in an effort to enlist new members to his Polk County gang.

Named Santana Perez, the gangster was sentenced yesterday as part of a new state initiative entitled 'Operation Rap It Up.' Perez was the first bust by authorities under the new law, which makes it illegal to promote gang activity in a public forum.

Perez, knowing he was down for the count, pled guilty to a slew of charges. The most serious were 'using electronic communication to further gang activity' as well as 'gang recruiting.' As part of the sentence, Perez will be legally required to cover up his tattoos while in public and is not allowed to have any contact with known gang members.

The Circuit Judge Karla F. Wright also added a sentence of two years house arrest with GPS monitoring to be served after Perez's jail sentence is up. Whether it's using illegal firearms in your videos or recruiting for gang activity, be careful out there, rappers."

Asian Boyz ClubProsecutor: Asian Boyz gang leader had role in eight 1990s killings - SGVTribune.com: "former leader of a gang known as the Asian Boyz, who fled to the Philippines for 10 years after playing a part in the deaths of eight people in the San Fernando and San Gabriel valleys, should be convicted of murder and other felonies, a prosecutor told a jury today.
'I told you I would try to show you a man who would try to erase who he is,' Deputy District Attorney Hoon Chun said of 37-year-old Marvin 'Shy Boy' Mercado. 'But don't let him fool you. It may be justice delayed, but it's still justice.'

He was shot in the street after a party at a Chico house on the 300 block of Normal Avenue on January 22nd.
Chico police say Brass and a teenager got into a fight outside the house and shots were fired. Brass managed to get a cab and took it to the hospital where he died four days later.
Police say the injured teen is a member of a gang and there are conflicting reports that Brass also had gang connections. But Tuesday, investigators said Brass was not affiliated with a gang.
Brass’s family says reports of gang activity are wrong.

Suspect in gangland killings could be in Niagara

Posted On 09:33 0 comments

Suspect in gangland killings could be in Niagara - Welland Tribune - Ontario, CA: "Royal Canadian Mounted Police issued an arrest warrant for Cory 'Frankie' Vallee, 34, alleging he and other members of the United Nations Gang killed two members of a rival gang in notorious B.C. shootings dating back to May 2008 and February 2009.

Vallee is also accused of the attempted murder of a bystander who was injured at one of the shootings and conspiracy to commit murder of rival gangsters.

Several members of the UN Gang are in custody facing charges in the killings, but officers with the RCMP's Integrated Homicide Investigation Team haven't yet been able to track down Vallee.

While he moved out west from St. Catharines years ago, police believe it's possible he might seek refuge in the area.

'We're not certain he's there. We're thinking he may be there. He's from there and still has links there,' Cpl. Dale Carr said Friday in a phone interview from Vancouver.

'Criminals are sometimes like boomerangs — they return to where they're from.'

Carr said a brutal spate of violence between gangs — including the UN Gang and the Red Scorpions, among others — raged on the streets of Lower Mainland a couple of years ago."

Members of the federal task force recovered seven guns during the course of Kelly’s arrest, and one gun during Gomez’s arrest. Following their arrests, the defendants appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Joseph Dickson in Newark and were detained pending a bail hearing.
