Man has been charged with one count of murder following the prison bashing death of gangland killer Carl Williams.The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at Geelong Magistrates' Court this morning, dressed in orange prison overalls via video link from Barwon Prison.When asked if he had anything to say, the accused killer replied "nah", and Magistrate Ron Saines adjourned the matter until July 23.Mr Saines said it was an understatement that the case had attracted a high level of media and public interest and said all persons charged with a criminal offence deserved the right to a fair court process.Williams, 39, suffered serious head injuries after he was allegedly bashed in the Barwon Prison's maximum security Acacia unit.
