Drug connection - Shower posse smuggling ring exposed « Sunday Herald: "Grand Jury indictment against Christopher ‘Dudus’ Coke paints a picture of an elaborate drug smuggling ring operated by the local arm of the Shower Posse and operatives in New York.
The New York operation, according to one informant, started in the early 1990s, when he and other members of the overseas group started to scheme to obtain and distribute cocaine and crack cocaine in the New York area.
That operation not only expanded his knowledge of the drug ring, but it also put the informant and members of his group in touch with members of the Jamaican arm of the Shower Posse including its leader.
The ring started selling crack cocaine in Bronx New York in 1994, in an area between 240th and 241st streets. Prior to that time, the informant said he had spent many years in Jamaica. Many of the persons who participated in this drug ring were Jamaicans who came from the Tivoli Gardens area. The smugglers were mostly young women who operated shops at the Arcade shopping mall in downtown Kingston.
Between 1996 and 1997, the informant came in contact with nine different young Jamaican women who participated in this operation taking drugs to the New York area on different occasions.
The link between the female smugglers with their New York counterparts was made sometime in 1994 at a restaurant in Bronx. At that meeting a young woman accompanied by an older woman, the informant and one of his confederates were present. It was revealed during discussion that the young woman was carrying cocaine inside her body."
