Officers unhurt in gun battle in Pine Lawn - STLtoday.com: "gunbattle Monday night between undercover drug investigators and two feuding groups left two drug suspects and a bystander injured.

St. Louis County police officers came under fire from at least three shooters in two cars, but no officers were hurt.

'It's an absolute miracle that we had no officers hit by gunfire,' St. Louis County Police Chief Tim Fitch said.

Dozens of shots were fired during the fight that stretched across several blocks. The shootings started about 7:30 p.m. when, as drug investigators in an unmarked car were following a car containing two people, another car pulled up and someone inside started shooting near Jennings Station Road and Bircher Avenue, police said.

Several other unmarked squad cars that arrived at the scene were hit by gunfire."
