Cook County jurors deliberated for around an hour and a half before convicting 21-year-old Orlando Avila of the murder of Leticia Barrera, who was over two months' pregnant.
Prosecutors focused on the testimony of four men who said they saw Avila open fire off the corner of Seeley Avenue and 48th Street in Chicago on Halloween, Barrera's birthday.
Officials say Barrera had just gotten home after trick-or-treating with her young kids when Avila and another shooter, members of the Latin Saints street gang, shot at Two-Six gang rivals on the street, hitting Barrera instead.
