Another Forming Kaos Gangster Pleads Guilty to Mexican Mafia-Related Operations

Mexican Mafia-related hoodlum is facing a lengthy prison sentence after admitting his role in the Costa Mesa criminal street gang Forming Kaos. Arrested in a massive, 2011 law enforcement sweep designed to wreck the gang's operations, Kirk Ray Butterfas had originally pleaded not guilty to a federal indictment accusing him of participating in a Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Conspiracy. Butterfas, already a convicted felon, faces a maximum punishment of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. His guilty plea before trial will likely substantially reduce his exposure.
