Gang leader guilty: Sur-13 gang leader Ernesto Campos pleads guilty to racketeering, sentenced to 15 years in prison - South Florida Sun-Sentinel.com: "Ernesto Campos, 28, also pleaded guilty in Broward County Circuit Court to conspiracy to commit racketeering. He was regarded as the local head of Sur-13, a Latin gang notorious for terrorizing Palm Beach County neighborhoods with drive-by shootings, robberies and arson.
Campos, of Broward County, was arrested in 2007 along with 11 other alleged gang members on racketeering charges. Their indictments were the result of a statewide effort to curb gang violence in Palm Beach County.
Sur-13 has roots in Southern California and works with the Mexican Mafia prison gang, according to authorities.
In Palm Beach County, the group was known for terrorizing the Westgate neighborhood, a subdivision just north of the Palm Beach International Airport and south of Okeechobee Boulevard.
Of the 12 people arrested, eight have reached plea deals and four await trial, authorities said."
