Lead Detective in Lester Street Murder Case Still Shaken by Brutal Killings |myEyewitnessNews.com, Memphis News, Entertainment, Videos, Business Search and Shopping: "'We didn't know,' Lt. Davidson testified, 'who the killer was. We wanted to make sure the killer couldn't come and get the kids at the hospital.'

Davidson says the rest of the family was taken to a safe house to protect them from Gangster Disciples who were angry they'd been implicated early in the investigation. Gang members kicked in the front door of one of the relatives, says Davidson, to conduct their own investigation into the murders.

Four days after the massacre, 9-year-old victim CJ, the child who had to have the knife removed from his skull, provided Memphis Police with the big break in the case.

'He told us who was responsible,' testified Lt. Davidson. 'He said his uncle Junior was responsible for killing his family and stabbing him and his brothers and sisters.'

Davidson says Memphis Police took Jessie Dotson into custody. And after they played a tape of CJ telling investigators that his uncle committed the crime, Davidson says Dotson confessed.

'In the end, he confessed to killing,' Davidson testified. 'He confessed to shooting the adults and he confessed to stabbing the children. And he said he acted alone.'

Davidson also said Dotson confessed the crime to his mother, though no recordings of any confession exist."
