8 Arrested In Santa Cruz Gang Sweep - Central Coast News Story - KSBW The Central Coast: "gang-suppression operation by law enforcement officers in Santa Cruz netted eight arrests on Friday.
Gang investigators from the Santa Cruz Police Department, the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office, Watsonville police, Capitola police and the Santa Cruz County Anti Crime Team participated in the special operation.
The operation was in response to a recent spike in gang activity in Santa Cruz.
The team conducted probation and parole searches of known gang members and mad eight arrests, police said.
Those arrested were booked on various charges including probation violations, possession of narcotics, being under the influence or narcotics and outstanding warrants.
Also, 15 gang members were contacted and identified during the operation, police said."
