Candelario Ramirez, Martin Ramirez and Hector Dominguez — all alleged members of the Latin Saints street gang

Posted On 01:20 0 comments

Candelario Ramirez, Martin Ramirez and Hector Dominguez — all alleged members of the Latin Saints street gang — dragged the 20-year-old victim from his Dodge Magnum as he arrived at his workplace Saturday, Assistant Cook County State’s Attorney Gerardo Tristan said. The suspects are in their 20s and from the Back of the Yards.

When the man denied being a gang member, they beat him up on the 2100 block of West 47th Street, then stole his car, Tristan said.

Police found the defendants near the stolen car at a known Latin Saints hangout soon after, he added.

Judge James Brown ordered all three held on bail of $250,000

According to law enforcement officials, the "10th Street Gang" operated a criminal enterprise that trafficked in cocaine, marijuana, heroin

According to law enforcement officials, the "10th Street Gang" operated a criminal enterprise that trafficked in cocaine, marijuana, heroin, and violence.

“One of the charges involves stealing a car first to be utilized for shooting rival gang members and resulted in the killing of Omar Fraticello-Lugo," said U.S. Attorney William Hochul.

Hochul says gang members are also charged with two other murders. Miguel Moscosco is charged with killing Christian Portes on June 13, 2009. Another gang member Saul Santana is charged with the murder of Anthony Colon both on June 26, 2009.

Buffalo Police Commissioner Daniel Derenda said there may be others, "These people were very, very violent. There are other murders that we have not proven but we believe are tied to 10th Street Gang, so I believe now they gone and hopefully for good."

Thirteen alleged gang members were arrested on federal warrants this week, 14 others were already behind bars on related charges. Law enforcement officials are still looking for another alleged gang member Michael Bobbitt.

Hochul wanted to emphasize that all those indicted are innocent until proven guilty, but he believes the state is ready to go to trial in the case

Under federal racketeering laws if convicted the gang members face a maximum penalty of life behind bars.

"If they're detained in federal prison or one of the facilities around here they won't be able to commit any other acts of violence," said Hochul.

14-year-old beaten to death last month for trying to quit his street gang had left another gang before, one of eight people accused in his death told detectives during a videotaped interrogation.

Savann Rang, 21, told Stockton police detectives upon his arrest that before Rin Ros attempted to leave the Crazy Town Crips - incurring the Aug. 6 beating that cost him his life - Ros had previously dropped out of the Loc Town Crips street gang.

"They say he's, like, a buster," Rang said of Ros. "Nobody likes a buster."

Rang's insight into Ros' death came to light Monday when the eight accused gangsters - ages 14 to 23 - underwent the first day of their preliminary hearing before San Joaquin County Superior Court Judge William Murray Jr.

In addition to Rang, the defendants are Ly So, 23; Michael Muy, 19; Ron Korm, 16; Kailler Sam, 16; Allen Phalit, 16; Sovannara Yam, 15; and Jereme Sin, 14. They all are in custody.

BBC News - Court told blackmail accused is 'criminal gang leader': "Christopher Joseph Notarantonio, from Avoca Close in west Belfast, appeared before Belfast Magistrates' Court accused of two counts of blackmail.
Police objected to bail, claiming there was a risk the 39-year-old would interfere with witnesses.
He was remanded in custody along with his co-accused, 38-year-old William Barker from Filbert Drive in Dunmurry.
Mr Barker, who was also charged with two counts of blackmail, did not make an application for bail.
A lawyer for Christopher Notarantonio claimed the police had 'absolutely no evidence' linking the accused to the blackmail, and argued that the case against him was circumstantial."

Death penalty ordered for killer of two in Harbor Gateway - latimes.com: "Los Angeles jury ordered the death penalty Monday for a 22-year-old Latino gang member convicted in the hate-crime killing of a 14-year-old black girl and the stabbing death of a potential witness in the Harbor Gateway area.

Jonathan Fajardo, who was 18 at the time of the killings, nonchalantly looked around the courtroom as the verdict was read. The jury found that he should receive death for his first-degree murder convictions for the slayings of Cheryl Green and Christopher Ash.

Fajardo was eligible for the death penalty because the jury accepted special circumstance allegations including multiple murder, killing a witness, committing a hate crime based on race and committing the crime for a gang. Fajardo was a member of the 204th Street gang, which prosecutors said intimidated and attacked African Americans in Harbor Gateway."

Gruesome Grenada slaying revives debate over crimes by deported US criminals | San Francisco Examiner: "crime was horrifying enough — a nightclub owner, hacked to death with a machete, was found buried in pieces. But what really outraged people was that the accused killer had been deported from the U.S. to his native Grenada as a convicted felon.
As a foreign-bred criminal, the suspect never should have returned to the close-knit tropical nation, relatives of the victim and others said. Islanders called for more vigilance over deportees by the government, which says it needs help from Washington to handle the return of hardened convicts.
'I hope that my brother did not die in vain and something can be done to monitor these criminal deportees,' said Gemma Raeburn-Baynes, a sister of the nightclub owner, Michael Raeburn-Delfish.
The United States has deported thousands of convicted criminals to the Caribbean annually since 1996, when Congress mandated that every non-citizen sentenced to a year or more in prison be kicked out of the country upon release. In all, the U.S. is responsible for about three-quarters of the region's returning criminal deportees, with the United Kingdom and Canada accounting for most of the other ex-cons arriving in the islands."

FOB Killers 'Most violent' gang member Michael Oduneye to be released from prison

'Most violent' gang member Michael Oduneye to be released from prison: "Michael Oduneye's crimes prompted one city police officer to describe him as the most violent offender he'd ever dealt with.
Two shootings connected to Calgary's gang war earned Oduneye federal jail time in 2004, but he'll be let out sometime this week when he reaches the mandatory release date in his sentence.
Oduneye, 27, was a member of the FOB Killers and the triggerman responsible for the infamous drive-by shooting in the parking lot of Southcentre on Dec. 23, 2002.
Oduneye fired at least four times at FOB gang member Jason Youn, striking him twice and seriously wounding him.
The two other shots flew into the Indigo bookstore, lodging in shelves.
'Innocent people could have been hurt; particularly given this was two days prior to Christmas and the store was full of shoppers,' the National Parole Board wrote in a review dated Sept. 15.
Oduneye's release is mandated by legislation that entitles most offenders to serve the final one-third of their sentence in the community, under supervision."

Two 'Fat' Freddie deputies probed in gang war death plot - National News, Frontpage - Herald.ie: "Gardai believe two of 'Fat' Freddie Thompson's deputies were behind the Ingram murder plot.
The pair, both of whom live in Dublin's south inner city, had their homes raided by armed officers minutes after gardai discovered a stash of four Ingram machine pistols and silencers in a Mulhuddart lock-up.
Officers believe that the men, who are on the gardai's most-wanted gangland list, were behind the plan to import the guns in order to mount a violent attack on rivals.
One of the men, a 26-year-old, is suspected of being the gunman who botched a hit on Martin Foley in 2008. The second is regarded as Thompson's eyes and ears in Dublin, and is considered 'Fat' Freddie's closest confidante.
According to sources, gardai swooped on the unit at Damastown Industrial Estate amid fears that an attack was just hours or days away.

A security source said: 'These guns would have been used in a bloodbath. A hit squad armed with them would have a military-like level of firepower.'"

Violent Prince George Gangs Have Their Origins in Vancouver - The Real Scoop: "The Game Tight Soldiers and the Independent Soldiers, were both started in Vancouver.
Both are now fighting over the crack shacks of the Prince George neighbhourhood known as the Hood. There have been shootings, murders and mutiliations.
It was interesting riding along with the task force for two nights of their trip - Sept. 17 and Sept. 18 - to see how the Prince George residents and gangsters reacted to their very visible presence.
Interestingly, we ran into the leader of the the largest gang in town, the Game Tight Soldiers. Steven King, who now lives in Penticton, rode up to the Renegade clubhouse on Fir Street on a Harley with Jason Hall, a full-patch member of the Renegades. He was wearing a Renegades vest with a bottom rocker. King and the GTS were first notice in Vancouver's downtown eastside in the fall of 2007. King was sent back to Ontario on Con-Air a few months later."

ICE Nabs 20 In Chicago Gang Roundup | Newsroom Magazine USA Edition: "Latin Kings, Belizean Bloods, Two-Six Boys, SureƱo 13s and Latin Dragons
T transnational gangs remain a major problem in nearly every U.S. city. Transnational gangs differ from traditional American street gangs in that their members are foreign born and absent family connections to the communities in which they reside.
Transnational gangs, like their indigenous American counterparts, are largely financed by the illicit drug trade. Based on law enforcement reports, the transnational gangs appear to be more violent toward competing gangs as well as innocent, ordinary citizens who may come into contact with them.
Interdiction of transnational gangs is the province of local police, Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents and Homeland Security Investigations. Both ICE and HSI are policing agencies within the U.S. Department Of Homeland Security."

Kidnapping charges filed against a fifth Missouri man accused in a bizarre abduction of a Newton businessman

Posted On 12:40 0 comments

Kidnapping charges filed against a fifth Missouri man accused in a bizarre abduction of a Newton businessman in January effectively ends the investigation, authorities said.

On Monday, Roy Slates, 56, an entrepreneur from Nevada, Mo., became the fifth person charged with kidnapping Newton pet supply store owner Jeffrey Muller on Jan. 8, Newton police announced today.

"Mr. Slates was our final target. I don’t anticipate any other arrests," said Sussex County First Assistant Prosecutor Gregory Mueller.

Muller, 59, was kidnapped by Douglas Stangeland, Andrew Wadel and Lonnie Swarnes, who assaulted and zapped Muller with a stun gun and trundled him into their car in the parking lot of his shop, police said. The trio was targeting a different Jeffrey Muller, a money broker from New York, but grabbed the wrong man, authorities have said.

Muller was repeatedly threatened by his captors during a 1,200-mile ride from New Jersey to Lake Ozark, Mo., despite his repeated claims they had the wrong man, authorities said. When the aging car broke down, Muller freed himself and bolted. As captors tried to stop him, a store clerk noticed the struggle and called police, who quickly arrested the bumbling trio, police said.

"I give him a lot of credit for fighting back," Mueller said. "He’s not a man of large stature, but he has the heart of a lion."

The entire strange saga had been sparked by a beer-fueled conversation between Stangeland and Slates, a contractor whose attempt to build a championship-caliber golf course in southern Utah was derailed when Muller, the money broker, failed to produce investors, authorities said. Slates wanted to recover money he believed was owed to him from a past deal with the broker. Believing that a fourth man, William Barger, 49, was an outlaw biker, Slates paid him $10,000 to plan and commit Muller’s kidnapping with Stangeland, 47, Swarnes, 45, and Wadel, 22, police said.

The abduction sparked a wide-ranging, multi-agency probe in both states. Slates was charged in February in Missouri with concealing a felony and hindering prosecution for his roles in both the kidnapping and a November home invasion/shooting in Missouri, police have said.

Ten bikers will go on trial for murder after a vicious brawl between rival gangs at a Sydney airport resulted in a man being bludgeoned with a metal pole and stabbed to death with a knife and scissors, a court said Thursday.

A chance meeting between members of the rival Hells Angels and Comanchero gangs on a flight led to cell phone calls for reinforcements when the plane landed.

Hells Angel Anthony Zervas, 29, died after being struck and stabbed when a fight broke out in front of stunned onlookers at a domestic airport in Australia's main city on March 22, 2009. The battle began at an arrival gate and rolled through the airport to a Qantas Airways check-in desk where Zervas died.

A preliminary court hearing ended on Thursday with Sydney magistrate John Favretto ordering 10 Comanchero bikers to stand trial for murder. The charge carries a maximum penalty of life in prison.

Teens ordered to execute gangster: Indian Posse ordered his killing informant - Winnipeg Free Press

Teens ordered to execute gangster: informant - Winnipeg Free Press: "former Winnipeg gang member who became a justice informant says two teens were under strict orders to kill a rival drug dealer -- then talked openly about completing their 'mission' following the broad daylight slaying.
The man, whose name isn't being published by the Free Press to protect his identity, testified Monday as the key witness in a first-degree murder case against two former fellow gangsters.
'We were just exchanging war stories. They said the guy (victim) was cutting in on crack sales in the neighbourhood. (One of the accused) said they had done a mission on Magnus, that they had killed somebody,' the man told jurors.
Thomas Roy Phillips, 38, was shot twice in the head and once in the chest from point-blank range as he sat in the driver's seat of his Jeep Grand Cherokee on March 26, 2007. His two alleged killers, who were 15 at the time, have pleaded not guilty to the most serious charge in the Criminal Code. They have been identified in court as members of the Indian Posse street gang.
The Crown alleges the slaying was a premeditated act. The witness told court Monday that Phillips was associated to the Manitoba Warriors gang and that a senior member of the Indian Posse ordered his killing.
'(The two accused) were just basically waiting for him to show up,' he said. The man said there would have been serious consequences if the teens decided not to follow instructions."

Death Penalty Possible For Gang Shooting Death | Los Angeles Criminal Defense - Robert Helfend: "This week a jury will begin to look at the details of the racially motivated killing of young Cheryl Green. They will decide if the gang members who gunned her down should be sentenced to death or life in prison. Two members of the 204th street gang have been convicted of several counts of murder for Cheryl’s death and the death of another member of the gang suspected of snitching.
This type of case is so painful for everyone involved. Mother’s seeing their children behind bars or in coffin’s need a place to turn for help and understanding.
Los Angeles Defense Attorney can help the families of the boys accused. As an experienced criminal defense attorney in Los Angeles and the surrounding areas for over twenty years, Robert Helfend has tried many cases involving gangs and has seen success in their verdict’s.
“If you or a family member is facing a three-strike felony charge in the Los Angeles area, you can’t afford to put your life in the hands of an inexperienced lawyer. Contact me to discuss the circumstances of the charges and how I can help. I believe the three strike laws are ineffective. I also believe that we should not ever give up on people. I am advocating that we change the three strikes law in California. Pagans bikers discussed plot to kill Hell's Angels during Wildwood's Roar to the Shore - pressofAtlanticCity.com: "indictment states that Jason 'Roadblock' Blair, the current Long Island chapter president, was assaulted by a group from the Hell's Angels on Aug. 25, 2009, and that he later called on the chapter's former president, John Richard 'JR' Ebeling, to help plot his revenge.
In a bail letter sent to two federal court judges, the U.S. Attorney's Office said that soon after, on Aug. 28 and 29, 2009, an undercover agent recorded a meeting held at a Rocky Point, N.Y., tattoo shop used at that time as the gang's base of operations. Ebeling and Blair, along with several other named defendants, were at that meeting and were recorded 'discussing specific plans to kill individuals who were involved in Blair's assault. Although Ebeling cautioned that the Pagans were outnumbered at present and must be 'smart' about attacking, he promised that 'the hammer's still going to drop on them.'
The group reportedly planned to throw homemade grenades, referred to by some of the group as 'Christmas presents,' to launch their attack as they rode their motorcycles through Long Island."

The Gangster Matriarch of L.A. - Yahoo! News: "Maria 'Chata' Leon, mother of 13 kids, ruled over a criminal empire with connections to a human smuggling ring. The Daily Beast’s new L.A.-based crime reporter, Christine Pelisek, who won three Los Angeles Press Club awards, one for her investigative story on the Grim Sleeper, investigates the case.
Five days after a wild gun battle in Los Angeles that sent school children streaming out of their classrooms, and left a gang member dead in the street, the phone rang at the home of Eduardo Alvarez-Marquez.
The reputed mastermind behind a human smuggling ring, Alvarez-Marquez had brought many unlikely deliveries across the Mexican border, including a three-month-old baby and a truckload of Chinese workers hidden in a freezer truck.
Maria Leon sat like the queen spider in a web spun across the border from north to south—head of a massive criminal enterprise of drug-dealing and murder.
This call, however, was for a 'special job.'
Maria 'Chata' Leon, the then-44-year-old mother of 13 children, and the much-feared head of a drug-dealing dynasty, was stuck in the border town of Mexicali. It was one of her children, Danny 'Clever' Leon, who, wielding an AK-47, had died in the 2008 shoot-out with police, and now she wanted to attend his funeral in the United States."

Pagans' recruiting effort is a direct result of a small but significant Hells Angels chapter that opened in North Jersey

Posted On 23:06 0 comments

Pagans' recruiting effort is a direct result of a small but significant Hells Angels chapter that opened in North Jersey in recent years. The Angels and Pagans have been rivals for decades.

"The N.J. chapter of Hells Angels is small, but backed by New York City, one of the largest chapters in the world," said Detective Ty Coronato, of the New Jersey State Police Street Gang Unit. "Most of South Jersey is completely under Pagan control, and they don't get along with Hells Angels. There's been a lot of tension."

Authorities in Pennsylvania are still investigating the 2005 shooting death of Thomas "Thinker" Wood, who was president of Philadelphia's Hells Angels chapter when it was actively involved in a turf war with the Pagans. According to reports in the Daily News, Wood's family and law enforcement suspected the Pagans.

Despite the perceived "tension" between Pagans and Hells Angels in New Jersey, there hasn't been any similar bloodshed in the Garden State in recent years.

In Gloucester City, a small, blue-collar town on the Delaware River, Police Chief George Berglund isn't pleased that he has a Pagans chapter in town and is worried that its ranks have grown.

"I'm definitely concerned with the rise of numbers I've seen. They're actively recruiting," he said. "We don't want them in town but constitutionally, people are allowed to be members. They don't like attention and they don't like law enforcement. None of them are saints."

In June, there was a minor incident in Gloucester City when members of the Warlocks allegedly walked into a corner bar wearing their colors. Words were exchanged with Pagans, phone calls were made, and more and more bikers showed up, Berglund said, but nothing really happened.

"We resolved it right then and there," he said of the incident.

There's no clubhouse in Gloucester City, Berglund said, and Pagans don't hang in the city's bars often.

"For the most part, they're not welcome to wear their colors in many establishments. It's not good business practice," he said.

Although the Pagans Motorcycle Club doesn't appear to have a Web site, its members are in plain view all over the Internet on sites like Facebook and MySpace.

Many use their nicknames or their real names with the acronym PMC attached. Several South Jersey Pagans declined to comment when contacted by the Daily News, and others did not return requests for comment.

In Wildwood, more than 100,000 visitors are in town this weekend for the 15th annual Roar to the Shore, a motorcycle-themed event that draws all types of bikers, including outlaw motorcycle clubs. Plenty of undercover local, state and federal investigators also are there looking for new faces, alliances or potential problems.

"That's a Pagan run and you usually don't see too many Hells Angels with their colors on,"Coronato said of the Wildwood event. "If you do, that means there could be trouble."

But Wildwood Mayor Gary DeMarzo, a retired police officer in the city, said there rarely are any problems at the event.

"We always make sure we reach out to the leadership of the gangs to ensure lawfulness. Most of the establishments in town don't allow them to wear their colors and they comply," he said.

One bar owner in Wildwood says Pagans are good customers.

"It has been my impression that these guys and the other clubs don't come to Wildwood to cause trouble - just to be seen and chill. Sometimes I see some colors but not to intimidate anyone," said Dave Stefankiewicz, a lawyer and owner of Good Night Irene's Brew Pub.

But Garrity, of the Camden County Prosecutor's Office, said outlaw motorcycle clubs aren't going to wreak havoc in public places unless they're forced to. A motorcycle rider himself, Garrity said he stopped going to the Wildwood event because of the outlaw clubs' presence.

"A lot of the criminal activity they do is really well-hidden, whether it's drugs or weapons," Garrity said. "The main thing with biker groups is usually the problems they have among themselves. They don't usually go out and mess with what we'd call civilians."

Last year, 55 members of the Pagans, including some from New Jersey and Pennsylvania, were charged in West Virginia federal court with kidnapping, racketeering, robbery, extortion and conspiracy to commit murder.

Brother of slain teen sentenced on drug charges

Posted On 11:11 0 comments

Brother of slain teen sentenced on drug charges: "Kevin 'Gusto' Coleman, 25, was arrested twice inside of a month during the summer of 2009 while dealing crack cocaine on Seattle's East Union Street corridor. Coleman was identified by police as a member of the East Union Street Hustlers, a Central District street gang whose members have been implicated in slayings and violent incidents.
Following his arrest, law enforcement agents found a bulletproof vest and ammunition magazines for an AK-47-style assault rifle at Coleman's home.
Coleman was among a group of dealers Seattle police and federal authorities targeted in the Seattle Drug Market Initiative, a law enforcement push aimed at street drug sales.
Following an investigation, a number of suspects were invited to a meeting with police, shown the evidence against them and told to knock off the illegal activity, Assistant U.S. Attorney Vince Lombardi told the court Friday. Because of a history of gun crimes, Coleman was among those that didn't get that chance and was charged by prosecutors.
Coleman's 15-year-old brother, Quincy 'Q' Coleman, was one of five teens shot to death on Seattle streets in 2008 during a wave of slayings that prompted action by the city and contributed to the decision to launch the Drug Market Initiative there. Quincy Coleman was hot to death outside the Garfield Community Center. His killer has not been caught.
Having previously pleaded guilty to drug possession charges, Coleman apologized for his actions before being sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Ricardo Martinez.
'I really am sorry for what I've done and I want to apologize to my family,' Coleman said as his mother, fiance and other family members looked on.
Coleman remains at the SeaTac Federal Detention Center pending his transfer to Bureau of Prisons custody."

BBC News - Wolverhampton gang member jailed for murder: "Jamie Price, the son of musician Goldie, was found guilty of murdering Marlon Morris, 21.
Mr Morris was out drinking with friends and was unarmed when he was stabbed four times last August, Nottingham Crown Court heard.
Judge John Milmo QC told Price, of Long Ley, Heath Town, Wolverhampton, he must serve a minimum of 21 years in prison.
'Everyone lost'

The judge said: 'The background here is gang culture. The refusal of gangs to accept the law of the land, coupled with the desire to impose their own anarchic ways, cannot be tolerated by society.

Marlon Morris was fatally stabbed through the heart and died in hospital 'In a case of this kind there are no winners, only losers. Everyone involved here has lost and lost in a very significant sense, whether the sentence is one of life or one of death.'
Mr Morris, a member of the Pendeford Crew, had been left with a severely disabled arm following a motorcycle crash.
Price, a member of the rival Heath Town gang, chased him down Broad Street in the city centre before repeatedly stabbing him, the court heard.
Speaking outside court on Tuesday, Mr Morris's family said they were pleased with the length of Price's sentence.
In a statement read by Det Con Allison Smith, the family said: 'Today has seen justice for Marlon and whilst it has been a long and difficult journey, it's the right result and enables closure for our family."

Jamal Spaights, went by the names “Mel” and “Bloody Bastard,” was sentenced to 40 years for the RICO count

Posted On 23:35 0 comments

top two leaders of the so-called Bounty Hunter Bloods/Nine Tech Gangster street gang was sentenced on Friday to 50 years in prison for his role in the gang.

Jamal Spaights, 28, of Portsmouth had pleaded guilty in federal court to one RICO count and one count of possessing a firearm in the commission of an act of violence. The RICO count includes various racketeering acts that he committed while he was a gang member — including conspiracy to commit murder, attempted murder and conspiracy to distribute controlled substances.

Spaights, who also went by the names “Mel” and “Bloody Bastard,” was sentenced to 40 years for the RICO count and 10 years for the gun count, according to U.S. Attorney Neil H. MacBride, who announced the sentence via a press release.

“A leader of one of Tidewater’s most violent gangs will now spend most of his life behind bars,” MacBride stated in the release. “This gang infiltrated neighborhoods with drugs and kept them in fear through murder and violent intimidation. We will continue to work with federal and local law enforcement partners to take gang members off our streets and make our citizens safer in their homes and communities.”

The combined gang that Spaights helped lead operated in various neighborhoods in Portsmouth, Suffolk and Chesapeake.

According to court documents, Spaights and two others drove around the Craddock area of Portsmouth on Oct. 16, 2006, looking for someone who was a witness to the murder of Darius Powell, who had been killed by the gang because members thought he had helped rob gang members at a Craddock dice game.

When the witness was located, gang members chased him down with their vehicle, and Spaights shot at him with a 9mm handgun, but missed. During the chase, Spaights’ vehicle crashed into a residence and he and the others fled the scene. Spaights, however, dropped the handgun, which was later recovered by Portsmouth police.

Spaights and seven other members of the Bloods and the Nine Tech Gangsters were arrested in an April sweep resulting from an investigation that included the FBI, the Virginia State Police and the Suffolk and Portsmouth police departments.

At the time of the original arrests, MacBride said the men were “charged with terrorizing neighborhoods in Portsmouth, Suffolk and Chesapeake.”

alleged leaders of the Mafioso street gang, pleaded innocent Friday to charges of attempted murder

Posted On 23:26 0 comments

alleged leaders of the Mafioso street gang, pleaded innocent Friday to charges of attempted murder for a 2005 shooting.

Michael Peralta, 28, and Nigel Vaughn, 25, were ordered held without bail by Superior Court Judge Robert Kane. They are scheduled for bail hearings on Oct. 13.

Bail, however, is academic for both men. Peralta, identified as the founder and leader of the Mafioso gang, was convicted in 2007 on gun charges and is serving a 15-year sentence. Vaughn was convicted in 2007 of attempted murder for the April 12, 2005, shooting of three men at Larry’s Sports Pub on Morgan Street. He is serving a 20-year sentence. All three men survived in the Larry’s Pub shooting.

At Vaughn’s trial, witnesses testified Vaughn became enraged after one of the three men knocked a sweater belonging to Vaughn’s girlfriend from a bar stool to the floor.

Both Peralta and Vaughn were identified as leaders of the Mafioso street gang, a group of young men and women that was based in Fall River and was once considered the most dangerous and violent street gang in the city.

Police say the Mafioso gang that existed in 2005 is now defunct.

Peralta and Vaughn were indicted Aug. 25 by a grand jury for the attempted murder of two men who were shot on the boardwalk about 250 feet north of the Regatta Night Club on Davol Street at 2 a.m. on March 27, 2005.

Jared Robinson, 28, also formerly of Fall River and also an alleged former Mafioso leader, was indicted by the grand jury. Robinson is scheduled for arraignment on Sept. 23.

Police went to Davol Street near the Regatta Night Club at 2 a.m. on March 27, 2005. They found two men on the ground, both alive and bleeding from gunshot wounds.

Yvens Saint Louis, 23 of Quincy, was shot twice in the back. Osias McEleven, 24, of Brockton, was shot once through the foot.

Saint Louis was initially admitted to the trauma intensive care unit at Rhode Island Hospital with his injuries. McEleven was treated at St. Anne’s Hospital and released. Both men survived.

Though the case is more than five years old, it was never closed, Police Chief Daniel Racine and District Attorney Samuel Sutter said.

Detective Lawrence Ferreira worked with prosecutor Steven Gagne on the case.

The shooting came during a busy and violent spring for the group identified as the Mafioso gang.
In addition to the shootings at the Regatta Night Club and the shooting a month later at Larry’s Sport Pub, Peralta was shot three times in the leg and once in the hand in a shooting at the Father Diaferio Village on May 22, 2005.

Police charged Robinson that same day in connection with another shooting on John Street. Witnesses later told police Robinson fired in defense against a man who was shooting at him.
Those charges against Robinson were later dismissed.

With the arraignments of Peralta and Vaughn, the cases will be placed on the trial calendar.

They are charged with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, four counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, carrying a firearm without a licence and possession a firearm without an FID card.

The charge of attempted murder carries a possible 20-year sentence. If they are convicted of that charge, and if the jury also convicts them of using a firearm to commit attempted murder, there will be a minimum of five years added to whatever sentence they receive for attempted murder.

swoops on a neo-Nazi group that has infiltrated jailed right-wingers to prepare them for violence when back on the outside took place across Germany yesterday. The targets of the raid were offices and homes of the officials of the Aid Organisation for National Political Prisoners and their Dependants. The HNG, as it is known, is believed to have begun organising violent neo-Nazis serving jail terms for hate crimes, assault and possession of illegal weapons.Interior Ministry Secretary Klaus-Dieter Fritsche said: "Today's searches will show whether our suspicions are confirmed and the HNG is positioned against constitutional order in an aggressively violent manner.

"Our findings lead us to the belief the HNG's goal is to network and strengthen the fragmented neo-Nazi scene.

"It acts against the social cohesion of Germany and we cannot tolerate this."

The HNG was founded in 1979 and has a core membership of around 600 with triple that number regarded as sympathisers.

Tri-City Bombers gang, triggerman in a fatal shooting that left a fellow member of an alleged drug smuggling operation dead.

Posted On 09:36 0 comments

Hidalgo County sheriff’s investigators have identified a body found in a backyard north of the city as that of an 18-year-old Economedes High School student and alleged gang member.

The remains of Roberto Javier Resendez were in an advanced stage of decomposition when deputies discovered them nine feet underground and beneath two layers of concrete and a chicken coop Aug. 25 at a home on the 2600 block of Ken Drive, near the intersection of 5 Mile Road North and La Homa Drive.

The advanced decay forced investigators to rely on dental records to make a positive identification, Sheriff Lupe TreviƱo said.

“For us to go to dental records means fingerprints are non-existent,” he said. “We’re talking bones and dry skin. There was no skin tissue or organs.”

Investigators believe Resendez, a purported member of the Tri-City Bombers gang, was the triggerman in a fatal shooting that left a fellow member of an alleged drug smuggling operation dead.

Resendez himself was allegedly targeted for death by the drug smuggling ring. The group believed him to be a weak link within their operation, TreviƱo said.

“They suspected him of having the potential to leak information out,” he said. “He was hard core (and) had a very lengthy felony and misdemeanor record. But he was very young, and they may have seen that as a weakness.”

On Aug. 26, six people were charged with capital murder in connection with Aguilar’s death. Each provided deputies with kidnapping and murder confessions.

Gang dispute appears to have sparked the shooting Sunday in Lancaster that killed a 14-year-old girl

Gang dispute appears to have sparked the shooting Sunday in Lancaster that killed a 14-year-old girl and left six others injured, Los Angeles County sheriff’s officials said Monday.

Homicide Bureau Lt. Pat Nelson said investigators are “confident” that the shooting was gang-related, but declined to identify the gangs. There had been no arrests made by Monday evening.

Dominique Peatry, 14, was identified as the girl who was killed when gunmen began shooting early Sunday morning at a party in the 44600 block of 6th Street East. The other shooting victims, who range in age from 13 to 26, have not been identified. They are all expected to survive, Nelson said.

Hells Angels’ Scotia Street clubhouse ,Body of an adult man whose legs appeared to have been bound with duct tape was pulled from the Red River

Posted On 09:25 0 comments

Body of an adult man whose legs appeared to have been bound with duct tape was pulled from the Red River in North Kildonan Saturday.

Const. Jason Michalyshen, a Winnipeg police spokesman, confirmed officers recovered a man’s body, which had initially been seen floating in the river by a boater around 10:15 a.m.

Michalyshen said a positive identification of the man has been made and that foul play is not suspected. An autopsy is pending, though.

As emergency workers moved the body from a boat onto a stretcher on shore, the man’s legs could clearly be seen and appeared to be bound with silver-coloured utility tape.

The man also appeared to be missing one of his hands.

Emergency crews used a fire rescue boat to recover the body shortly after the boater noticed it Saturday morning.

Then, about 1:30 p.m., a team of police, firefighters and mortuary workers pulled the body from the docked boat on the east shore of the Red River right near the Kildonan Tennis Club on Valhalla Drive, just north of the Chief Peguis Trail.

The spot is almost directly across the river from the Hells Angels’ Scotia Street clubhouse recently seized by justice officials earlier this summer.

Once the body had been pulled ashore, the workers zipped it into a body bag, used a stretcher to wheel it up the riverbank and loaded it into a waiting mortuary van, as a few curious residents of the nearby high-rise apartment blocks looked on.
