Members of the Colonia Chiques gang were arrested for various drug-related offenses, including possession and sale.
Eight members were arrested on federal warrants; 14 others were arrested on state charges; and two gang members were still at large and actively being sought by authorities.
Twelve defendants are accused of distributing methamphetamine
, crack cocaine and heroin.
The defendants were scheduled to be arraigned in U.S. District Court in L.A. Wednesday afternoon.
Most of the defendants named in the federal indictments face mandatory-minimum sentences of at least five years and statutory maximum sentences of 40 years in federal prison if convicted. Two defendants face potential life sentences because of prior convictions."
