Deputies were called to a residence in the 1800 block of Baugh Street about 6 a.m. regarding several people fighting outside the home. Several people fled the area in a silver sedan before deputies arrived, but a deputy en route to the scene spotted a vehicle matching that description on Olivehurst Avenue. He also saw two people walking away from the vehicle who matched the description of the suspects, according to a Sheriff's Department news release.
The two people, both juveniles, fled over fences in the 4400 block of Olivehurst Avenue and were later found hiding in a nearby residence.
The vehicle was stopped by deputies in the area of Olivehurst and 10th Avenue, and an adult and juvenile in the car were detained.
Deputies who arrived on Baugh Street found one person who told them that he had been knocked to the ground, then hit and kicked several times. He also alleged that one of the individuals in the car, later identified as Alberto Nieto, 19, of Olivehurst, had brandished a gun, according to the news release. The victim refused medical attention.
Investigators believe the incident stemmed from an ongoing dispute between Norteno and Sureno gang members.
Nieto was booked into Yuba County Jail on suspicion of criminal threats and a gang enhancement. Officials said the gun was not found,
The three juveniles were booked into Juvenile Hall accused of assault with a deadly weapon and a gang enhancement.
