Seattle police say a man was wounded and two houses were struck by gunfire in the Beacon Hill neighborhood last night. Patrol officers and gang-unit detectives were called to the area of 23rd Avenue South and South Lucile Street around 10:30 p.m. for a report of a shooting. According to police: Two cars were heading south on Beacon Avenue South when a passenger in one vehicle stood up and pointed a gun through the sunroof toward the other car. The driver in the car being targeted sped off as a single shot was fired; the bullet struck the front passenger door. The gunman’s car sped after the fleeing vehicle until the two cars crashed on a dead-end street at 23rd Avenue South and South Lucile Street. A resident told police that two people got out of the gunman’s car and shot at the other car’s occupants. The suspect vehicle then sped east on South Lucile Street, police said. One man was hospitalized for a gunshot wound to his back. The injury is not believed to be life-threatening, police spokeswoman Renee Witt wrote in a news release. Officers found 13 shell casings. Bullets struck two homes; no one else was hit, police said. The victims told police that the men who shot at them are rival gang members. “This is an on-going feud between these two rival gangs, with several drive by shootings at their respective homes,” Witt wrote in a news release. No arrests have been made.
