LA gang member convicted in assault rifle killings - San Jose Mercury News: "Los Angeles gang member has been convicted of an assault-rifle attack that killed a 10-year-old boy and two others.
Forty-one-year-old Charles Ray Smith was convicted Monday of first-degree murder and could face the death penalty. He also was found guilty of a previous murder.
A mistrial was declared for 36-year-old co-defendant Kevin Moore. Prosecutors haven't decide whether to retry him.
Both men had mistrials last year."
