South San Francisco man convicted of violent attacks - San Jose Mercury News: "David Dorsagno, 23, guilty Wednesday of three counts each of felony assault and felony battery, said Chief Deputy District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe.
But the panel acquitted Dorsagno of felony robbery, assault with a deadly weapon and terrorist threats charges. When Dorsagno is sentenced June 22, he will face a maximum of 14 years and four months in prison, Wagstaffe said.
In the first attack, which happened in November 2007, Dorsagno beat a man who had talked to police about a crime, prosecutors said. Defense attorney Lisa Maguire said her client was at the scene when trouble began but left before the fight started.
Maguire said she was surprised and disappointed jurors convicted Dorsagno, who is allegedly the founder of a Daly City street gang, of the attack. A witness who was not able to pick Dorsagno out of a lineup nonetheless testified that he had been one of the attackers, she said.
'It's a little disconcerting that (witnesses) can't pick him out until they get to court,' said Maguire.
Jurors also convicted Dorsagno of attacking a man with a metal baton in March 2009. Dorsagno sent some text messages to a woman, and her boyfriend called and said to leave"
