John Giampetruzzi, 41, was found dead on the sidewalk on 28th St. near Ditmars Blvd. around 5 a.m. Police sources described him as an ex-con and a member of the Hells Angels.
"I came outside and saw a man dead on the sidewalk," Phillip Graham, 56, said. "You couldn't even see what the poor man looked like because of the bullets."
Neighbors said the gunman - who is still on the lam - approached the heavily tattooed biker, pumped his face full of lead and stomped on his head before walking away.
Sources said Giampetruzzi had several prior arrests, including a slew of burglary pinches and drug-related busts. He was convicted of second-degree murder in 1989, the sources said.
The shooting Saturday rattled residents, who never imagined such a crime could happen on their Astoria block.
"I've lived here 30 years and have never seen this kind of violence," said Margarita Diakakos, 54. "To see a man shot dead on your street makes you afraid."
