Long Beach police have arrested more than a dozen gang members in connection with a series of shootings over a three-year period. Police Chief Jim McDonnell said Wednesday investigators arrested 16 members of the city's largest gang. Most of those arrested were booked for investigation of such crimes as murder and burglary after they were linked to 13 shootings. Among the cases involve the fatal shooting of a 19-year-old man who was standing outside a liquor store. Prosecutors have charged 22-year-old Johnney Smith in connection with the slaying. Smith is already behind bars.
