BBC News - Court upholds Curtis Warren drug smuggling verdict: "Jailed drugs baron Curtis Warren and three other men have failed to have their convictions overturned.
Warren, 46, from Liverpool, was jailed for 13 years in December for plotting to smuggle £1m-worth of cannabis into Jersey.
Warren, John Welsh, James O'Brien and Oliver Lucas had claimed their defence was weakened by late disclosure of material by the prosecution.
An appeal judge in Jersey Magistrates Court, upheld the convictions.
Appeal-leave refused
John Welsh, 43, originally from Liverpool, who was described in the trial as the 'willing purchaser' of the drugs, was sentenced in December to 12 years.
James O'Brien, 45, from Glasgow, was jailed for 10 years for agreeing to pilot the boat which the smugglers planned to use.
Jason Woodward, 22, of Dartford, Kent, Paul Hunt, 27, and Oliver Lucas, 23, both from St Helier, Jersey, received five-year terms.
Warren, Welsh, O'Brien and Jason Woodward had been refused leave to appeal against their sentences."
