In a search warrant filed Monday in Roanoke, investigators asked to seize DNA and fingerprint evidence from a man who staying at the Tinker Creek Manor Apartments. Lynchburg police say Cory Brown is a person of interest in the case.
In the warrant, police say Brown lives in a house on Floyd Street in Lynchburg next door to where the shooting occurred May 20th. Derrick Payne was killed in that shooting and two other people were injured. Witnesses saw Brown armed with a 9mm handgun about an hour before the shooting, according to the warrant. Investigators found several 9mm shell casings at the scene of the shootings.
Police say Brown is a known member of the 'Crips' street gang. The warrant did not explain why he was at the Roanoke apartment complex."
