Witness to Valinda shootout says gang members shot first - SGVTribune.com: "witness to the Valinda shootout that left a gang member dead and a former Marine charged with his murder testified Friday the gang members shot first.
Cinthia Cisneros testified she was standing about 10 feet away when three gang members opened fire on Carlos Chavira.
Chavira, a former Marine and Iraq war veteran, is charged with murder and two counts of attempted murder stemming from the Feb. 10, 2009 shootout.
Walter Zomoza, a 19-year-old gang member, suffered a fatal gunshot wound just below his neck.
Defense attorney Eber Bayona said Chavira shot in self-defense.
Cisneros testified the three gang members approached Chavira's truck as he waited in line at a gas pump.
Two of the gang members had guns and fired several shots at the truck, Cisneros said."
