Latin King gang member from West New York dies two days before sentencing | NJ.com: "Jose R. Alvarez, 55, of West New York, apparently died of natural causes, said Hudson County Assistant Prosecutor Aaron Silverstein.

Alvarez, whose Latin King nickname was 'King Sinbad,' was taken from the Hudson County jail in Kearny to the JCMC on Thursday, Alvarez's brother, Richard Alvarez, said. He was lifeless when he arrived at the hospital, Richard said, and was taken off life support on Friday. He died Sunday, July 4.

'He was no angel,' Richard Alvarez said. 'But he had rights. He was a human being.'

Richard Alvarez said his brother had a history of liver problems and while at the hospital his kidneys had shut down. He also believes that Jose had an altercation at the jail that brought all this on."
