Man, 26, sentenced to 2 years after pleading guilty to shooting pickup - Fall River, MA - The Herald News: "Just before the shooting, Tony Almond turned to his friends and said, “Let’s do this thing,” police say.
When talking about the shooting in court Wednesday, Almond said the word “guilty” five times.
Almond, 26, who gave a home address of Dorchester, was living in Fall River and involved in street gangs on June 25, 2009, when Almond shot several rounds into the grill of a pickup that was behind him in traffic on Pine Street, police say.
Police say Almond was one of four people in a rented Chevrolet Trailblazer and was seated in the back seat when he opened the window, leaned out and opened fire on the truck behind them. There were three people in the truck. No one was injured.
The shooting, police say, was part of an ongoing territorial dispute among city street gangs that resulted in several fights and shootings, including a murder in July of that year.
Almond pleaded guilty to three counts of assault with a deadly weapon, one count of unlawful possession of a firearm and one of unlawful possession of ammunition."
