Police: Victim had ties to gang | thedailyjournal.com | The Daily Journal: "Mario Escobar Salas, who was stabbed repeatedly early Sunday morning. At least three men apparently attacked Salas on the front porch of his home, police said.'It does not appear robbery was the motive right now, and it is looking as though ... the attackers targeted the victim, possibly by mistake,' Detective Lt. Michael Gaimari said. 'There was an altercation between individuals an hour or so prior to the incident in the vicinity of the stabbing, and we are investigating the possibility of a retaliatory assault, but the victim may not have been involved in the earlier occurrence.'Salas reportedly had 'some gang association,' although it's not clear whether that is related to the homicide, Gaimari said. The detective declined to provide details about the earlier altercation, including whether it was gang-related."
