Teen dead after gangster's car vandalized: "20-year-old Surrey man who police say is a known gangster has been charged in the slaying this week of 17-year-old Adem Aliu, apparently after the youth had vandalized the gangster's car.
Steven Brandon Mulligan-Brum appeared in Surrey provincial court on Friday to face a charge of second-degree murder, police said.
Aliu was among a group of youths who had been drinking and vandalizing nearby parked cars.
Police said the driver of one of the vandalized cars caught up with the group two blocks from where the vehicle was parked, singled Aliu out from the group and shot him dead.
RCMP patrol officers found a fatally wounded Aliu lying in the street.
Mulligan-Brum was previously known to police.
Police said the teenager and some friends 'were acting like stupid children,' walking down the street slashing car tires and pushing in the door of one vehicle.
Aliu was not known to police and did not previously know his killer.
Aliu immigrated to Canada from Albania three years ago and had been living in the Vancouver suburb of Surrey with his uncle while attending high-school classes at the Guildford Learning Centre."
