14:54 |

UPDATE: Police arrest two in shooting that wounded officer | KGET TV 17: "Police arrested two men in connection with a south Bakersfield shooting early Sunday that left an officers wounded.

David Sebastian Rosas, 23, and a 17-year-old were arrested at the home in the 1000 block of Meredith Drive. The name of the teenager was not immediately released because of his age.

A group of officers was called to the area at about 4 a.m. Sunday to investigate a 'shots fired' call. It's the same street where a gang murder took place two weeks ago.

'When the officers arrived, both Rosas and the juvenile heard noises outside the fence in the alley and went into the back yard to confront whoever was there,' the BPD reported in a news release. 'Rosas fired at the officers through the fence. Rosas and the juvenile fled back into the house and together hid the firearm, which was later recovered by police.'

Rosas and the teen were arrested on charges of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, conspiracy and weapons charges. Rosas also was being held on a parole violation.

A bullet hit Officer Christopher Messick, passing though his right leg. He was treated and released.

Messick and his partner, Robert Woods, both returned fire but no one else was injured."
